Tryout Fic #6: VxHiro - Sonic vs. KenThat day the arena was wild. The sun as shining the sky was blue and the fans were going crazy for this, which would be a bout to go down in history. Two fighters from different dimensions were both favorites with the crowd, and numerous other fans. The stands were divided, half of the cheering on lookers cheering for the "Fastest thing alive" half cheering for the "Worlds greatest martial artist" all hoping to see a fight, which would last in their minds for years to come. Fans held signs and chanted songs to honor each fighter. Today was not going to be a brutal scarring bloodbath, with two fighters wishing nothing more to kill each other, as so many of the other fights have been. Today's fight would be a clean, respectable, and enjoyable sporting event, and for once, in this fight the two fighters did not each carry weapons and powers, which had the potential to kill the other 2 seconds into the fight. Yes truly this would be a battle of battles, and one of the greatest first tier matches in the tournament. Sonic walked toward the arena entrance, cocky as always. He had not cared to train much before this battle. He did not underestimate his opponent, not in the least bit, but training was for slowmos. He know that for all intensive purposes he couldn't get any faster than he was, and that was his main strength, his speed. That is, he couldn't get any faster unless... Sonic fiddled around and found the small "present" that he was given by his buddy tails before the match. "A power ring... with this no one can stop me" he said twirling the glowing ring around his finger "eh I ain't gonna need it" he laughed a bit putting the ring away, and proceeding into the ring "aright... let me at em!" Little did sonic know that watching him and his inner discussion was shadow, sneering at his display as sonic was still wiping chili off his mouth from his pre-battle snack "fool..." shadow "he purposefully denies the power of that ring" he hmphed, folding his arms "he better learn to use all powers at his disposal, otherwise... he will not defeat zero in the next match if he continues to take this laid back attitude" he growled a bit under his breath before using his chaos control to teleport away. This battle did not interest him at all, the only thing that he cared about, was fighting one person and one person only, fighting sonic. "You better survive sonic," he said, as he appeared far away from the arena "I will be mad if I do not get the opportunity to settle our score" "In this corner, the fastest thing on two feet, Sonic The Hedgehog!" the announcer shouted and the crowd went wild. "Go get em sonic!" tails yelled jumping high in the air. "Don't lose we still gotta fight!" knuckles yelled out. "You can do it sonic!" sally yelled excitedly from her seat. "Rip em a new one sugah hog" bunnie yelled at the same time. His entire cheering section was there with him, from his friends from the floating island, to the whole batch of freedom fighters, from sally to rooter to Amy rose, to even dulcey (although she was to big to fit in the arena). "Thank you thank you" sonic proclaimed as he slid to a halt from his entrance dash into the stadium. "This is for all my way past cool fans!" Ken laughed as he saw sonic's jovial attitude as sonic entered the ring. He shared much in common with the hedgehog, from his cockiness to his laid-back attitude. He threw a couple shadow punches and hopped on his feat ready willing and able to take on his next opponent. Ken was no stranger to tournaments; although the bit of acting he had been doing did make him soft. The street fighter tournaments had the best in the world though, so something like this would be cake. "And in this corner the greatest fighter in the world, Kenneth masters!" The announcer yelled out as ken came running into the arena, fist raised, smiling at his fans. He himself had his own cheering section. Familiar cheers from chunli, sakura, and even a few from ryu himself echoed from the stand. "I won't let ya down guys" he whispered to himself as he walked over to where sonic was for the match to begin. "Lets have a good match alright" ken said extending his fist. "Sure lets!" sonic said, tapping his fist to kens and in that split second after the fist tap, he was off like lightning, running faster than ken had ever dreamed possible. Sonic laughed, having fun in seeing that the street fighter couldn't follow him. "Over here!" he shouted stopping to ken's left "Now I'm over here!" he shoulder stopping to ken's right "come on slowmo keep up!" he said laughing now behind ken and delivering a somersault kick straight to his backside. Ken staggered forward, off balance from the swift kick to his back when he wasn't looking "What the heck is this guy" he thought to himself trying to follow sonic's blurred movements, his speed more than anything he has ever experienced. "Even when I watched him train he wasn't as fast as this...UGH!" he exclaimed getting another swift kick this time to the side. "He attacks and is gone in two seconds... I'm vulnerable on all sides." Sonic had a cocky smirk on his face throughout the entire battle this far "So this is it eh, I've eaten chili dogs that has put up a better fight." He laughed again and moved in for the attack as was his pattern in his previous attacks, but he was in for a surprise. "TATSUMAKISENPKYAKU" the call went out as ken leapt in the air delivering a hard spinning kick, which caught sonic in the midsection. Sonic staggered backward only to be on the receiving end of a low sweep that ken comboed into his hurricane kick. Sonic was caught off guard not expecting a kick that would cover all of his opponent's sides, and after taking the sweep he fell on his back completely open. He had not been taking his opponent seriously. Ken had just attacked blindly as sonic came in, hoping his kick would strike home, and his gamble paid off. If he could just time the kick right sonic would be unable to touch him... or so he thought. "Just keep him off his feet" he thought to himself, preparing to deliver a half moon kick, driving his heel into the hedgehog lying prone on the floor of the arena. But the blue blur was still much to fast for him, for as his heel connected with nothing but dirt and stone on the arena floor. Wincing and recoiling back at his own self-injury, ken looked around trying to find where the speedy little hedgehog was. It was unrealistic for ken to think he could keep up with sonic even in the smallest bit. This was not a battle he could win by using brute strength. He had to think, play it smart... something he admitted he wasn't the best at doing. Where was ryu when you needed him? "Come on masters think" as he spotted a streak of blue and red running in circles around him. Unfortunately his thinking was cut short as a spinning blue ball smacked him directly in the chest knocking him back hard into the arena wall quite a distance away. "Just be happy I didn't use my triple spin" sonic said laughing "I coulda cut you in half if I wanted to" Sonic himself also knew that in terms of fighting skill, he did not compare with ken. Sonics only chance would be to continue to hit and run, for if he got to close, ken could get him into a long string of martial arts techniques, pummeling sonic, and the little blue hedgehog was most certainly not known for his endurance. As such he continued his pattern, running around in wide circles around the arena, kicking up gale force winds to throw ken off balance, and then using the homing attack on him to deliver a powerful blow. Ken was on the losing end of this battle. His hurricane kick was not quick enough for sonic's homing attack. "I need to stay tight to the wall" he thought to himself "he can't run circles around me if I stay close to the walls." Ken ran back and forth along the arena walls, barely dodging sonic's homing attacks, which end up smashing huge holes into the cement walls around him. "I need to think of something and quick" Ken's mind raced frantically, trying to think of something, anything to throw the hedgehog off guard. Then suddenly it came to him, you can't run if your feet aren't on the ground. He pulled his hands back and charged his chi energy "HADOKEN" he called out as he let the chi blast scream outward, not toward sonic, but on the ground ahead of sonic "HADOKEN HADOKEN HADOKEN" ken shouted firing multiple volleys of the chi balls directly at the arena floor. Sonic laughed to himself "This slowmo can't aim for beans. He's missin me everytime!" Sonic prepared himself for another homing attack, but before he could spin into the punishing ball which was the trademark of this powerful attack, he became victim to ken's plan. The arena was filled with potholes, and sonic ended up tripping over his own too feet falling down hard. Before sonic could even get up again, ken ran over the potholes, which were easy for him to traverse over, but hard for sonic's, smaller hedgehog feet. "SHORYUKEN" ken called out, delivering a fierce flaming dragon punch, picking sonic off the ground in the process. The attack propelled sonic backwards and caused him to land on his back, badly injured. Unfortunately the bringer of the attack was badly injured as well, using up nearly all of his chi in creating the potholes with repeated hadokens, and that shoryuken nearly knocked him out. Both fighters had now had enough. The battle had gone back and forth for long enough. Both of them were battered, bruised, and barely able to stand. Ken was struggling just to stand up underneath his own power, filled with injury and fatigue, and sonic was summoning all his willpower to continue on after that crushing dragon punch, his fur burned, and his cockiness broken. Ken laughed a bit, although his body was in pain, he had not had this much fun in a long time "What say we finish this" ken shouted over as he struggled to stand on his wobbly legs. "Exactly what I had in mind" sonic said using the wall to brace himself. The two warriors decided to finally end this battle using the most powerful of their attacks. As ken charged his chi into his fist and sonic rolled in place, the tension in the arena grew immense and the crowd fell silent. "SHINRYUUKEN!" ken called out as fire surrounded his body. "TRIPLE SPIN" Sonic shout out as he spun faster than he ever had before, energy actually crackling around his body. The two warriors screamed as they executed their final attacks, their energy and force connecting against each other in a brilliant flash of light. The entire audience was blinded for a second, as the two attacks hit each other head on, force and speed clashing against each other to see who would be victorious. Yet after the light cleared, it seemed as neither would be the winner, both fighters laying on the ground, next to each other, taking the full force of the others attack. "I've never seen anything like this" the announcer exclaimed, "Both fighters have completely knocked each other out. Could this be our tournaments first draw! The only thing left to do is start the count! 1...2..." Ken and sonic laughed weakly despite their injuries "that was some fight wasn't it" ken said rolling his head to the side to look at sonic. Sonic still had his eyes shut tight "yeah... never had a slowmo put up such a fight" both fighters couldn't help but laugh at each other, it had been one of the greatest fights either have had. "Isn't it about time you won" ken said to sonic. "I sensed the power of that ring you have with you. You coulda won this match any time couldn't you" Sonic opened his eyes, he had completely forgotten about the power ring tails had given him before the match. Sonic grabbed the ring and was about to use it before ken addressed him. "Save it..." ken said "something tells me, you'll need it against that red robot your going up against next" sonic couldn't believe what he was hearing. Ken laughed "me... I think I'm just gonna take a little nap" and with that ken closed his eyes, going unconscious with a smile on his face. "...8" the announcer continued. It was at this point that sonic started to drag him up from the floor of the arena "9!!! Wait look at this, sonic is getting up!" the announced exclaimed as sonic shakily got to his feet "TEN!!! SONIC THE HEDGEHOG IS THE WINNER SONIC THE HEDGEHOG IS THE WINNER CAN YOU BELIEVE IT FOLKS SONIC HAS WON!" Sonic raised his arms and smiled before falling on his back again. With a little rest, both fighters would be back in premium condition, and sonic did not have another fight for quite a few weeks. Sonic had learned quite a few lessons in this battle, lessons he wouldn't forget, and would use wisely in his next fight. Either way, this may be a fight that the fans went wild for, but more importantly it would be a fight both fighters would never forget. As both fighters were taken out of the arena on stretchers so they could get medical attention, and get some much needed rest, they passed each other along the way, giving each other a weak final fist tap as their stretchers past each other.
