Vs. Mode - Zero vs. SonicAs the scene opens, the new ring is shown as a grassy green land with a layer of brown underneath. A tall plateau-like hill rises up at the middle, with a similar land pattern. Tropical trees are on top of the hill. Around it is the usual audience, with the usual announcers doing their usual announcing duties. "And we're back. Welcome back to Vs. Mode" Lucca announced. "It's time for the last match for today, as the robot extraordinare Zero takes on Sonic the Hedgehog for the chance to take on Aeris in round three!" "That's right Lucca" Brock took over. "Zero surprised many by winning a relatively easy win over Scorpion, who managed to get all the way to round four last year. Sonic put up a win against Ken Masters that wasn't as impressive as many thought, but a solid win nonetheless. But a match that everyone thought would be a Sonic blowout from the beginning has turned into a guessing game, as it seems Zero has a good shot at taking out the hedgehog" "The match chosen is the Green Hill Zone, one of Sonic's original places of adventure. He might have the advantage and--oh wait. I think the entrance for Zero is beginning! Yes! And here he comes!" Lucca had to practically yell over the cheering crowd as out came Zero. With his Sabre in hand, the robot floated out to a load of people hoping for him to pull off the upset. The robot smirked and swung his sabre a few times at the air to pump up his fans. Many of the Sonic fans seemed rather unimpressed, however. As Zero took his place in the ring, the crowd anticipated the arrival of the next fighter. "And now it's time for Sonic to come out..." Brock said. "The anticipation is so thick you could cut it with a knife...unfortunately I don't have one right now, but I think you could tell" The exciting song known as "Live and Learn" blared through the speakers as with a flash of blue, Sonic arrived at the beginning of the platform. The crowd yelled and cheered loudly for the blue hedgehog. Sonic grinned and dashed into the ring at a quick speed, showing off a little himself. He dashed into the ring opposite of Zero and struck a quick pose for the crowd to cheer. He settled down and stood, ready to fight. "And both of them are in the ring. They seemed pretty psyched up" Lucca observed as she looked to Zero, who was smirking yet showing anticipation. Sonic had his arms crossed and was waiting for the match to begin. Ref-Bot floated into the middle of the ring a foot away from the way. "Player one, are you ready?" "Ready" Zero replied. "Player two, ready?" "You bet!" Sonic answered. "Three...two...one...go!" Zero began the fight by taking a quick leap backwards. Sonic just grinned and began to dash forward, his lower body looking like a blur as he did. "Okay Zero, you got here by a lucky win against an overestimated character, but let me show you something about speed!" He went into a quick dash at the robot, who quickly moved aside, somehow dodging. "Hey, what?!" "Oh, and Zero manages to dodge a head-on charge from Sonic! I don't know how, but he did!" Brock announced. "And...uh-oh, Zero's got his Z-Sabre up!" Sonic looked up as Zero swung his sabre around and sent Sonic flying across the ring. Zero floated at Sonic again and took another swing, barely missing Sonic and cutting a large portion of the ground out from under where Sonic was. "Two quick blows, only one manages to hit. Sonic looks like he manages to keep his cool after the attack" Lucca summarized. Sonic curled into a ball and took a jump onto the top plateau. Zero jumped after him and came back after the hedgehog. Sonic quickly began to dash, going past Zero and dodging a quick swing of his sabre. Sonic leapt onto the tree to escape Zero, but only for Zero to cut down the tree with a chop of his sabre. As Sonic came back down, Zero flew after him with several swings of his sabre, trying to cut Sonic down, even though he wasn't fast enough to catch the hedgehog. "And Sonic seems to be on the defensive as Zero swings like a madman, trying to bring him down. Could Zero really win?" "If Sonic doesn't come back, he's done for" "Well, Sonic, are you convinced yet that speed is not everything?" Zero asked as he swung his sabre around a bit. "It's not everything, but it's all I'll need to use on you for now" Sonic grinned. "Don't be so confident, Sonic, you're not doing very well" "Oh, am I?" The answer came from Zero as the robot took a step forward and swung his sabre again. Sonic leapt into the air above Zero's head and landed, making a quick dash past him. Zero, however, was just getting warmed up for the fight. Sonic took two steps back and stopped, turning around. Zero leapt into the air and began to actually dash on the air. "And Zero is...walking on air?!" Lucca asked. "Isn't that blasphemous?" Brock asked. Lucca sighed. Sonic took two steps back as Zero dashed forward through the air at him. Zero thrust his body forward, however leaving the hedgehog an open opportunity to dodge. Zero, however landed and threw his sabre to his left hand, raising his right fist above the ground. Sonic was standing, wondering what he was doing, before deciding to dash at Zero. Zero's fist collided with the ground, causing a large rumble. Sonic began to shake from the impact Zero created. To the dismay of the rodent, it wasn't the end of it. Out of the ground, seemingly, fireballs appeared and began to bombard the hedgehog. Zero floated in the air, a grin of satisfaction crossing his face as he saw that the attacks were starting to overcome the hedgehog. Sonic growled as he shook his head, trying to recover from the attacks. He had survived worse stuff before. Acid, lasers...the Eggman smell that displeased him so much. He quickly dashed at Zero again. Before Zero could react, Sonic used the full extent of his speed and moved into Zero. He grabbed the robot and lifted him off the ground, driving him headfirst into the ground hard. Sonic leapt off and gave a sigh of relief as he bought himself a little time. Or so he thought. Zero rose from the ground, his teeth (or what appeared to be teeth anyway) showing in his smile. "Sonic, do you really think you can beat me with throws? I have so many attacks that you can't even begin to imagine all that I could possibly do to you. And I will use my attacks without stop to CRUSH you, Sonic!" Zero lifted his blade and leapt into the air, coming down with a fiery blade towards Sonic. Sonic saw this and moved his feet quickly to pull himself away from the attack. Just as Zero was completing this one, he lifted his Sabre again and lunched with a second jumping slash, this time using electricity with the swing. Sonic remained on the defensive and ran as Zero continued his assault, this time with a downward stab using an ice power around his sword. Sonic gasped as he saw the area he just escaped now covered with ice. Zero raised his sabre again, leaving Sonic no chance but to run again. Sonic continued to dash as Zero continued to pursue, like some kind of monster from a movie that wouldn't give up a chase until the opponent was done. As Sonic continued, Zero raised his blade and swung forward. Sonic thought he had run out of range, but ended up slashed by the attack, which had an amazingly wide arc. Zero began to dash through the air as Sonic was knocked into it, and pulled a boomerang. He thrusted it forward, knocking Sonic further back, and continuing to move. The boomerang rebounded and came back to him. Zero put the boomerang away, who knows where, and proceeded to move towards Sonic again. "Eat this! It's my Buster Shot!" Out of Zero's wrist came a gun, rather small though. He began to fire a quick stream of blasts from it, hitting Sonic who was still defenseless from the string of attacks that were hitting. "Gr..." Sonic looked up as Zero stood, smirking at the hedgehog. His gun wasn't shooting, and Sonic didn't know what was going on. Still, he knew that he had to attack. Sonic came dashing at Zero. Zero held out his arm and shot a fully charged blast of the Buster Shot. A fast force came flying at Sonic. Sonic looked up as the attack approached him, quickly pulling himself into a ball and rolling beneath it. Zero shocked at the fact that Sonic was able to dodge for the first time in a while. Now there was the time for Sonic to make his strike. The hedgehog brought himself into the air and thrust himself straight at Zero, slamming him head-on with his Homing Attack. Zero stumbled back a bit, but otherwise rather unharmed. Zero raised his Sabre again and dashed at Sonic, who had curled up again and this time leapt onto the ground. He bounced into the air, coming down to hit Zero on the head. Zero swung his Sabre again, missing as Sonic took a quick dash past the robot. Outside of the ring, Dr. Albert Wily was in the stands. He chuckled as he spoke quietly to himself his plans. "Yes...I am now going to show my true power as I make this match to work to my advantage! They will know my name!" "Oh really?" Asked a voice behind him, as a catchy tune played. "Eggman!" Wily growled as he turned around to see the large doctor in the flesh. Leather black pants, red shirt, big belly, bald head and long red mustache, he was hard to miss. "What do YOU want?" "I know about what you were going to do, Wily" Eggman said. "One genius can tell what another genius is thinking. And you won't pull it off, you fool" "And why wouldn't I, fat man?" Asked Wily angrily. "Because I can stop you" Eggman took two steps back and leapt into a two-footed cart called the Egg Walker. He controlled it and took two steps forward. "I'll blast you to smithereens!" Wily grinned and held up a remote control in his hand. "Oh no you don't, Eggman. I'm going to make this work, no matter what. You can destroy it, but that'll only make it permanent. Face it, you can't stop me" "You're a lousy genius, Wily" Eggman growled from behind his Egg Walker. "Tell me, Eggman, why is it you seem to be trying to HELP your past nemesis, Sonic the Hedgehog?" Asked Wily curiously. A smile crept upon his face. "Don't tell me you've gone straight?" "I've done no such thing!" Barked Eggman, pounding a fist on the controls. "If Sonic were to lose to that pathetic robot, what would it make me? Even pathetic ones such as Duke Nukem would be making jokes off of me! I don't think so, Wily. That Zero robot will fall" "Well, then..." Wily grinned. "I'll give you fifteen seconds before I make Zero become an invincible fighter capable of beating Sonic with one strike!" "Fine then" Eggman leapt out of his Egg Walker and began waddling over towards the other doctor. "Okay, let's say Sonic is on a train headed 350 miles per hour" "Yes" "And then Zero is on top of the train, holding his little lightsaber thing" Eggman continued. "Go on" "Okay, then..." Eggman opened his mouth, just before from behind Wily leapt Tails and Knuckles. The two grabbed Wily by the arms, leaving him to drop the remote. "So you think you're gonna cheat our friend, huh?!" Knuckles asked angrily as they dragged him away from the controller. "It's a good thing Eggman tipped us off" "This was just a temporary truce, Knuckles" Eggman hissed at him. He turned and began to walk back towards his Egg Walker. "I am not an affiliate to you and your friends. Don't look forward to me helping again" Knuckles took a small bag from his pocket. He threw it to Tails with one hand. "Tails, go take this to Sonic, and take the remote with you just in case. I'll take care of the Angry Scientist here" "Right!" Tails took the bag and immediately started off towards the ring. "Here I come, Sonic!" "And Sonic's comeback has started, but Zero still holds him at bay as the two exchange fierce attacks" Lucca told the cheering audience. "This will come down to the wire" Well, Sonic, I hope you know now that you can't win" Zero held up his Sabre. It began to glow brighter. "Now...this attack will seal the match! "And it looks like...the Charge Attack!" Brock gasped. "This could be a huge upset if Zero defeats Sonic with the same move he used to dispose of Scorpion with!" Tails stopped his two tails from moving like helicopter blades and slowly lowered himself down. "Sonic!" He called, emptying the bag. Seven emeralds spilled onto the stage. "Huh?" Sonic looked. The emeralds floated into the air and began to circle. Sonic nodded, and, ignoring what Zero was starting to do, dashed into them. He held up one hand as he felt the power of the Chaos Emeralds surging through him. The pure force lifted him into the air and filled him with power he didn't have. His blue fur shined gold, and a shining aura surrounded him. "And...I can't believe it!" Brock was in shock at this. "Sonic has transformed into the legendary Super Sonic!" Zero pulled his sabre down and pointed it at Sonic. "So you got some new energy. I think I'll still do this" Electricity surged through the sabre as Zero held up his sword. He yelled and came flying, slashing with great power. By the time the attack was done, the slash had created a huge cut in the ring. However, Sonic was unharmed by it. "What? No...er..." Zero held up his blade again, this time ice appeared around the glowing part of it. He dashed at Sonic again and swung, freezing another part of the ring, yet still not doing much. "And it seems all attacks are ineffective against this new form of Sonic" Lucca commented. "He seems so much stronger now!" "This can't be!" Gasped Zero, still holding his sabre and standing strong. "It can and it is!" Sonic's aura became much larger, and the hedgehog rushed straight at Zero. Zero swung his sabre frantically, but to no effect. Sonic smashed Zero head on, with an excruciating attack. Zero felt like he was hit by an entire planet, and the aura surrounding him seemed to make his body think that Sonic's slam was burning the very metal on his body. Zero went flying through the ring. Sonic quickly floated past Zero again and slammed him head-on a second time, knocking Zero straight through the ring. He bounced on the ground once and skidded across. Sonic floated in the air above Zero, who was still holding his sabre. Zero raised his arm for an attack, but the two simple strikes from Sonic had weakened him badly. "And it seems that Sonic's new powers are simply too much for Zero!" Lucca announced. "Zero was hit by two tackles, and he's hardly able to get up!" The hedgehog turned in midair, and with his aura still going strong, floated downwards. Zero looked up, the image of Sonic in his eyes. Every person in the stadium held their breath for what was about to happen. Sonic doubled his speed, moving so fast that most people didn't even see the attack coming. The aura became even bigger as the powered hedgehog came down. Zero looked up, and went down. The attack left the ring in ruins as Zero's body crashed through all of the scenery. The energy surrounding Sonic blasted much of the newly installed Green Hill Zone area away. Gasping for breath, Sonic lowered himself to the ground. His quills went down to their normal style, and in the normal blue color. He gave a sigh of relief. "Phew...all right!" "The winner: Sonic!" "And it's over! Sonic the Hedgehog managed to take the win with new, mysterious powers!" Lucca announced. "Maybe we'll see this new Super Sonic again soon. He's going to need it when he takes on Aeris, or possibly even a stronger opponent afterwards" "Yay Sonic!" Cheered Tails. He gave Knuckles a high five. Even Eggman sat back and smirked for the hedgehog's victory. However, none of them noticed as Wily took the control back and silently sneaked off... "Well, that slates a match between Aeris Gainsborough and Sonic the Hedgehog in round three" Lucca announced. "But tomorrow rejoin us for the rest of round two, starting as Mario takes on Shadow the Hedgehog! For Vs. Mode, I'm Lucca" "And I'm Brock. See ya!" Next Entry Back |
