Vs. Mode - Link vs. FoxBefore the Fight Fox McCloud was in his locker room, fixing the buttons on the vest that he had worn to Dinosaur Planet. He was going to use his newest clothes to fight against Link in round two. "Now..." There was a knock on the door. "Come in" Fox stated. And in came something Fox did not expect. A group of the Super Smash Brothers. Mario, Samus, Donkey Kong and Pikachu. "Fox" Mario said. "Don't-a go out there. You don't-a know what you're getting into" "And I'm supposed to take advice from a fat plumber who beats on innocent kids?" Fox growled. Mario looked taken aback by this accusation. "Listen, I've been hearing crap about how I'm going to get beat all day, don't you think I'm a little tired of it by now, guys?" "We're doing it for your own good" Samus replied. She had her helmet off at this point. "Did you even see what Link did to Aiai?" "Aiai's a monkey, Samus" Replied Fox, standing up straight. "I'm much stronger than he is, I think I can take care of myself against Link" "Pi pikachu" Pikachu leapt onto the bench. "What do you mean, you let me win because you didn't want to go against Link?" Fox growled. "Pokémon, they have nothing going for them" Pikachu angrily growled at this. "Fox, stop acting like a jerk!" Donkey Kong grunted. "You got beaten by Cloud Strife! Badly! And Mario beat him, and do you know how badly Mario was beat by Link last year? And Mario absolutely destroyed me!" "Guys, I've beaten Link in the Melee Tournaments before" Fox stated. "How different can it be this time around? I could take him" "He's a whole different person in these tournaments, Fox" Samus stated. "He fights much better than he usually does and uses attacks that he never does in the Smash tournaments. You won't stand a chance this time" "Listen, I'd rather go out there and fight like a man, than have to forfeit just because you guys don't want me to fight!" Fox said. "Do you guys want me to lose or something?" Mario crossed his arms and sigh. "Look, we just don't want to see you get hurt, and on top of that, embarassed" "Sorry" Fox picked up his staff and twirled it a bit before starting towards the door. Donkey Kong leapt in front of the door. "You're not going!" Fox looked angrily at D.K. "That is it" He picked up the staff and smashed it across Donkey Kong's head. The other three gasped as Donkey Kong fell over. "Fox, you are out of control! Stop it now!" Samus stated. "You three want to fight me too?! Come on then!" Before any of the others had a chance to answer, Fox dashed at Samus and did a quick flip-kick, knocking her into the wall. He turned to Mario and threw a punch, which Mario caught and countered with one of his own. "Come on...let's go..." Mario helped Samus to her feet as Donkey Kong was just getting up. Pikachu left with them. Fox sighed and picked up a bottle of water, taking a long drink. "All right...I'll prove them wrong now. Sorry guys, but I'm gonna shock everyone" The door opened as a bird, toad and rabbit entered, all humanoid, like Fox. They were Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad and Peppy Hare, Fox's partners. "Fox, what just happened?" Asked Slippy. "Donkey just got hurt coming out of here" "I had to hit him" Fox replied. "Why did you do that, Fox?" Peppy asked curiously. "Him and the rest of them were trying to stop me from fighting" Fox replied. "They're not going to stop me. I don't care, I'll fight" "That's just the thing, Fox..." Peppy replied. "We saw the next fight, and...well, things aren't looking very good for you" "What?" Fox asked. "Fox, you know I'm always right, so I'll save you time and a trip to the hospital: Don't do this!" Falco stated. "It's basically suicide, only there's a chance you'll live" "Give me a break, Falco" Fox said. "Why don't you go do whatever it is you do" "Don't be foolish, Fox" Peppy said, walking towards his friend. "It is not wise to go into a battle without a horse" "What do you mean?" "I mean that Link has what it takes to defeat each of the other competitors of this tournament" Stated Peppy. "I don't think that you could defeat even a fourth of them. I'm sorry to tell you this, but you're simply outmatched. The odds are not in your favor" "Listen, I appreciate the help, but this is something I'm doing if you like it or not" Fox replied. "Fox" Falco walked forward to Fox. "Don't. I'm going to say this, one more time. You don't stand a chance! YYou can't win, so just forget about it!" Fox pushed Falco away. "Stop it! All of you! This is madness, I'm going to fight, even if I don't win! But that is my aim, and I am definitley NOT going there to die!" Falco was pretty angry at the actions of his partner. With a 'Hmph' he turned away. "Fine then. Be like that. Who needs you? Go, get yourself killed. See if I care!" With that, Falco slammed the door open and stomped out. "Falco!" Called Slippy. "Just go with him" Fox replied. "Be safe, Fox" Peppy stated, putting a hand on Fox's shoulder before leaving. Slippy and Peppy walked off after Falco. Fox heaved a sigh and walked towards the door, blaster on his belt and staff in hand. "Well...here goes nothing" ---- "Welcome, welcome, welcome!" Lucca announced to a madly cheering crowd. "Round two is just starting, and with a newly rebuilt ring to boot! I'm your host, Lucca, if you weren't here for the first part. And this is my co-host, Brock" "Yep, that's right" Brock said. "Round two is finally beginning here. It's between Link and Fox McCloud. Link got here by beating AiAi, quite badly at that. And his opponent, Fox, got here by squeezing a win over Pikachu. Now we'll see who wins. Will Link beat Fox like he beat AiAi, or can Fox surprise everyone by stopping Link's reign short?" "And here comes Fox McCloud!" Announced Brock. A rather average cheer came for Fox as his team's music played. He emerged, staff in one hand. "And I'd bet that a large amount of his cheering would sadly come from those who just want Link to lose" "Fox! You're my hero! You killed that stupid rat! Pokémon is ***!" Cheered one rather large person in the audience. Fox went up to the guy and glared at him. "Listen you, for your information, Pikachu was a strong competitor. I don't need fans like YOU who would insult someone and only cheer for me because I beat them! If the audience wasn't protected, I would show you something. Now get out of here, dimwit" The fat man was shaking by the end of it, our of fear of McCloud. "Oh, and that guy got on the wrong side of Fox, huh..." Brock observed. "Well, Fox is in place, and here comes Link!" The music of Link played for the second time as Link emerged to a massive roar of the crowd. The elven teenager smiled as he walked out, Zelda and Ganondorf with him. The two took a seat beside the ring as Link leapt in and drew his sword. The ring suddenly began to move, as in place, a dock dropped in slowly. A second part of the dock, dropped into the right part, and a large stone to the left. A giant turtle crawled into the arena as well, being brought by at least two dozen tamers. Lucca informed everyone about this. "Link's choice was a stadium from Super Smash Brothers Melee, and chose the Termina Great Bay. As you see, we have a team of Water Pokémon to fill the bay for us" A team of four Blastoise, huge blue turtles with brown shells and water cannons in them, were shooting water into the arena. Along with them, were Kingdra, large sea-horse like Pokémon that were part-Dragon, and were over five-feet tall. They were shooting large amounts of water from their mouth. Link and Fox were standing on the top dock as the fight began. Ref-Bot floated to the ring for the beginning of the second round. "Ready...three...two...one...GO!" Fox grinned. "Okay Link, you may be good, but I'm gonna do what they said I couldn't! Try keeping up with this speed!" Fox grinned and took off at Link at an incredible speed, moving quicker than people could even see. "And Fox has great running speed as he dashes as Link!" Lucca announced. "How will Link counter this?" Fox came at Link with a quick Roundhouse Kick, only for him to dodge. Fox moved at Link again, throwing a fast barrage of punches and kicks. Link managed to dodge most of them, and block those he didn't with his shield. "And Link isn't doing much at all" Brock said in shock. "Is Fox really too much for him?" Fox pulled his staff from his belt and took a heavy swing of it, Link bringing up his sword to quickly block the opposing blow. The two moved back. Fox grinned. "Ah, I don't know what I was worried about. You're still the same old Link, aren't you? And they were saying that you were some kind of psycho killer out to destroy me or something. Heh heh heh, what a crock. You're just a little pussycat like always, Link. Now stand back and let's get go--" Fox was interrupted by a heavy swipe of Link's sword across Fox's side. Fox yelled as he was launched across the ring, with a long tear cut into his vest. The vulpine fighter bounced at the side of the ring a few times as the crowd cheered. He fell onto the bottom dock at the bottom. "Wow, and with one single slash of his sword, Link brings Fox to his knees!" Lucca said to the crowd. "Looks like maybe saying Fox would bring Link's reign to an end would be premature" Fox got to his feet, deep in thought. ~Man...he is much stronger...not that I'll let that bother me!~ With that, he leapt onto the top dock. Fox drew his blaster and began to shoot quick shots at Link. Link easily leapt into the air and dodged them, despite the handicap of a heavy sword and shield in his hand. Link landed and formed a bomb. Fox looked forward in his aim and shot a blast at the bomb. Link quickly threw the bomb, the shot hitting it in midair. The blast did damage to Fox, as it reached towards him. Fox was sent a little backwards as Link went into pose again. Fox put his Blaster back onto his belt and reached for his staff. However, this was cut short as Link dashed into Fox with another sword cut, knocking him into the air. Link leapt up, then brought his sword downwards, hitting Fox's shins. Fox yelled at the pain now entering his damaged legs, and as he did, didn't notice that he was about to collide with the ground. Link took another swing at Fox, who, despite crippling pain, leapt above the sword. Link's quick jabs with his blade continued, Fox continuing to dodge each one, with some difficulty though. Lucca picked up her microphone to continue talking to the crowd. "And now Fox looks like he's going onto the defensive as Link stabs at Fox. Could this be as far as Fox goes? It would be one quick fight, if it is..." Fox leapt over another slash, and then dodged another. He anticipated each one as Link kept bringing them out. He stopped upon another swipe, his foot suddenly starting to hurt. Link came at him with an upwards slash, then leapt into the air with a forward kick. Fox was knocked back and bounced off the tiles and then onto the stone. Link leapt after Fox and began to attack him on the bottom. Fox continued to throw several fists at Link, but with each one, he was attacked twice with the sword. There were cuts in his clothes and some blood on him. Link swung his sword with a grunt, launching Fox onto the bottom of the dock. He was nearly sent sinking into the water, but managed to hold onto the stone. "And Fox clings onto the stone, because if he doesn't, he may drown" Brock announced. "He doesn't seem to be in a good place right now" Fox pushed his hands against the stone and went into the air, and came down. He spun around, managing to dodge a swipe of the sword from Link to hit the swordsman and knock him back. Fox then fell into a split, knocking Link away and giving Fox a chance to regroup. Link shook his head after being knocked back and jumped onto the top dock again. Fox decided to get onto the stage, just as Brock was saying "Fox better--" "A waiting Boomerang strikes Fox in the head, sending him spiraling!" Lucca added. "Watch out..." Brock concluded. Fox panted, getting up. "No...I can't let it end this way" Fox picked up his staff and ran at Link, swinging his staff quickly. He managed to land a few good blows, and then follow with a kick. This wasn't going to end it, Fox had to give it everything he had if he was going to win. He quickly brought his right foot into Link's stomach, then the left. Fox took a short leap back, and rushed forward. That was as far as he got, as Link's sword went into his stomach. Fox gasped as he stood, shocked in the middle of the ring, just barely moving out of the way from a fatal blow to his bowels. "And Link's sword stops a momentary rush of attacks from Fox" Lucca announced. "And...Fox just hit the floor. I think we can call this over" Brock announced. Link wiped the sweat off his face with his shield-weilding hand and walked over. He looked around, and heard several people yelling "KILL FOX! KILL FOX!" Fox weakly looked up, one eye closed out of the severe damage. There was a little blood dribbling down his mouth. "So, Link...gonna kill me?" Link sighed and then proceeded to gently kick Fox out of the ring. He landed in the water and floated on top, clearly unconscious now. "The winner, Link" Ref-Bot announced to the crowd, seeing Fox's state. "And that ends a rather harsh beginning to round two, as Link handily defeats Fox McCloud" Lucca announced. "Poor Fox, I don't think he really stood a chance at all..." Brock added. "Well, I'm sure when the medical ward helps him out, he'll be good as new" "Well, when we return, it's going to be THE match to see!" Lucca said excitedly. She held up two pictures. "It's going to be Ganondorf against Magus!" "Uh, Lucca, those are pictures of Hiei and Kurama from Yu-Yu Hakusho" Brock pointed out. "Oops, wrong pictures" Lucca, looking embarrassed, put the pictures under her desk and took out pictures of Ganondorf and Magus. "There, these are the guys. It's a match that nobody can really call accurately yet because either one can take this. It's going to be an exciting match, so stay with us in Vs. Mode!" Next Entry Back |
