Vs. Mode - Zero vs. Scorpion"Welcome back to Station Square Center! We're about to start tonight's third match, but first, let's go to Max to get an update on how Felix is doing." "Thanks, Lucca. Felix did take a lot of damage from that plasma grenade, but after witnessing his and Isaac's Psynergies in action, I can tell you that he is just fine. The two of them plan to return home once tonight's matches are over. After talking with them, they both said they would relish the chance to come back again next year. Back to you, Lucca!" "That's wonderful news, Max. We would certainly love to see them again in action," Lucca answers. "For now though, we move on to our next battle," Brock says as Mega Man Zero's theme plays to loud cheers from the fans. Zero enters the stadium with Mega Man behind him. "A hero with a tumultuous past, Zero used to be a Maverick Hunter who fought alongside the robot known as X. He's now since taken a lead role in his fight against the armies of Neo Arcadia with his Z-Buster and Z-Saber. We have even heard rumors of Zero having new abilities that are not yet known to the general public." Zero hops into the ring as dark, ominous music signals the arrival of Scorpion. "One of last year's biggest surprises of the tournament, Scorpion fought his way into the Elite Eight, where he fell to the blade of Link. Can this undead ninja make another deep GCB run?" Scorpion steps up and does a couple of neck stretches before facing Zero with his pupil-less eyes. "How about some analysis, Brock?" "Scorpion's much lower seed this year results in a tougher first round opponent. The ninja does have his fighting experience and his usual tricks though to help him out. Zero may be a new face in the crowd, but you have to respect his blaster and that huge sword of his. This battle is going to be tough to call, but I'm going to give the edge to Zero." "Players, to your positions. Player 1, ready?" "Ready!" Zero says as he wields his Z-Saber. "Player 2, ready?" "Ready," Scorpion hisses in reply as he takes his fighting stance. "Combatants ready. Raise force barriers. Match 15, Zero vs. Scorpion. 3, 2, 1... fight!" "Power's on; game's started! Zero rushes to take a slash at the ninja, and Scorpion backs away from the sword wielder. He'll try to wait for a mistake on Zero's part and counterattack." "He may not get that chance as Zero puts away the sword in favor of his Z-Buster. The energy shots are flying, but Scorpion is making liberal use of his ability to teleport, giving Zero fits. Zero has stopped firing now, but what is he doing?" Zero pauses briefly to yell out, "Change Form!" His normally red and white armor morphs into an orange color. "This is one of Zero's many new talents, Form Change," Lucca notes. "It may just look aesthetic, but Zero's attributes are changed, sometimes drastically, depending on his armor color. This is his Active Form, and he makes good use of it by sliding Z-Saber first into Scorpion! The ninja looked surprised when a much-faster Zero covered the distance between them so rapidly." "Scorpion responds by firing his spear and connecting! Zero is pulled in for a fierce uppercut and an aerial kick." Zero shakes his head to recover and looks up to Scorpion from the ground. "How dull." "I can kill you now, if you're bored," Scorpion acidly replies. "No, what I meant was I can do that trick, too." In one swift movement, Zero brings out his Chain Rod and fires, embedding the spearhead inside Scorpion. "Zero has just used another one of his new skills, Energy Chain! Similar to Scorpion's spear, Zero whips out the chain and sucks the energy right out of anyone unfortunate enough to get impaled," Lucca explains. "Scorpion manages to rip the spear out of his body, and pulls Zero in for a vengeful uppercut. Zero somehow lands on his feet and charges in to give Scorpion a nasty slash, sending the ninja reeling. Even if he's undead, Scorpion is still feeling the effects of that Energy Chain." "Zero executes another Form Change into his blue X Form! In a nod to his old ally X, Zero super-charges his Z-Buster and unloads on Scorpion! Scorpion gets flung back into the force barrier and collapses outside the ring. It looks like the hero, Zero, was just too much to handle, even for an undead ninja." "Winner: Zero." Zero reverts back to his normal armor as he takes one last look at his defeated opponent before heading back with Mega Man. "In what some could call a stunner, Zero has defeated a veteran fighter in Scorpion and will move on to the second round.
