Vs. Mode - Master Chief vs. Felix"Welcome back to Vs. Mode. If you just tuned in, you missed one of the greatest fights of the GCB thus far. It may not have been as close as Tidus vs. Ganondorf, but the aftermath of Sora vs. Aeris was certainly one which we will never forget," Lucca says. "Exactly. That was a very classy move by Aeris, saving her Great Gospel for the both of them once the battle was over. We hope we'll see more of this as the GCB moves onward." The theme to Halo begins to play as Master Chief enters to a mix of cheers and boos. "Although he doesn't have an actual name, Master Chief is still a force to be reckoned with. He was one of the original subjects of the SPARTAN II project and its only survivor. Master Chief carries both conventional and alien weaponry, and he will use them to great effect in his first GCB appearance." The green-clad cyborg steps up into the ring as Golden Sun's theme is heard and Felix makes his way into the arena, accompanied by Isaac. "Like Isaac, Felix is also in his first GCB tournament. This dark-haired boy will rely on his Psynergies and his Djinni to fight his first-round opponent. Felix must be thinking about how his teammate, Isaac, fell to another metal-clad fighter in Samus. Will Felix suffer the same fate, or can he do what Isaac could not and advance to the second round?" "Let's let the competitors decide, as tonight's second match is about to start." "Players, to your positions. Player 1, ready?" "Ready," Master Chief says through his helmet as he equips his MA5B Assault Rifle. "Player 2, ready?" "Ready," Felix says, unsheathing his sword. "Combatants ready. Raise force barriers. Match 14, Master Chief vs. Felix. 3, 2, 1... fight!" "Power's on; game's started! Master Chief leaps back and starts spewing bullets from his assault rifle, but Felix rolls to minimize damage. He responds with Stone Spire! Master Chief jumped away in time to take only a minor hit." "Master Chief continues to fire his weapon, and Felix does his best to dodge. The cyborg has seen what Isaac could do, and he wants to avoid giving Felix the time to do the same. Master Chief has switched to his plasma rifle, and he is landing some scorching hits on Felix." "Felix rolls into a standing position, and he has just summoned Judgment!" Brock shouts. "Samus and Master Chief now share another thing in common as the summon finishes. Felix charges Master Chief to press the advantage, and he gives a full slash to the cyborg, who seemingly didn't even try to dodge that hit." "No!" Lucca interrupts. "Master Chief has stuck a plasma grenade on Felix! Once that device is on, there's no getting it off. Felix might be done for, but he tries to get as close as possible to Master Chief to possibly force a draw by knocking them both out. And it goes off!" "Felix got fairly close to Master Chief, and the cyborg was floored by the explosion. Both fighters are down! Ref-Bot is starting a simultaneous count-out. There is nothing in the GCB rulebook about what happens after a draw, and this might be the first!" Lucca notes, "The possibility of a tie has always existed, but the odds of it actually happening are so small that the commissioner of the GCB did not put in a tie-breaking procedure. He'll have to think of one, if this is how this match ends." "Master Chief is struggling to get up, while Felix is barely moving at all. If he can find the strength to stand, Master Chief will win this battle. The count is at 7, 8- and Master Chief is on his feet! He looks really exhausted, but he escapes with the victory. Those plasma grenades are certainly something for the cyborg's next adversary to take note of." "Winner: Master Chief." "And so the pair from Golden Sun are both out of the tournament, but you have to admit, they put up a decent fight against their respective opponents. If they return next year, you can expect them to be as strong as ever," Lucca predicts. "Master Chief nearly lost this match, and that just shows how capable a Golden Sun fighter can be. The results of this battle mean Master Chief will go against Aeris in the second round.
